Classical Civilisation is an excellent choice for students who are inspired by the cultures of Ancient Greece and Rome. Students immerse themselves in the classical world through epic poems, tragedies, art and architecture. In analysing texts and artefacts, they come to understand the historical, political and social context in which they are set. Many students are fascinated to discover the parallels between the Ancient and Modern World, and relate to the perspectives of our Greek and Roman predecessors. Classical Civilisation students do not work in Greek and Latin, however they develop a profound appreciation of the languages.
Taught by The Golden Circle’s exceptional Classics team, our Classical Civilisation students enjoy success in their GCSE, A Level and IB exams. In addition, we prepare students for Oxbridge interviews and university admissions tests, such as the CAT (Classics Admissions Test) and CLAT (Classics Language Aptitude Test). Each year, our students are awarded places to study Classics at Oxford University, Cambridge University, Durham University and St Andrews University.
"My son chose to take Classical Civilisation as an additional A Level, outside of school time, so it was incredibly important that we found an academically strong teacher with an approachable teaching style. Adam has exceeded our expectations and provides detailed written feedback after every lesson! I’m so pleased that we invested in tutoring."
