Economics is a fascinating and academically-rigorous subject. It offers a new perspective on the modern world and is a subject which influences our everyday decisions. From where to live, to what to buy, to which job to accept, Economics underpins these choices. Students debate big economic questions, including: What is free trade? Does international aid work? Is this China’s century?, and produce persuasive essays about real-world issues. Over the last few years, students have analysed the causes of the global financial crisis, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the consequences of Brexit. They develop strong essay writing skills and use data, graphs and case studies to inform their arguments.

The first-class Economics team includes Heads of Departments and Subject Leads at top independent schools. Many are also GCSE and A Level examiners. Lessons teach students how human behaviour results from using scarce resources to satisfy unlimited demand. Teachers give students the confidence and ability to make meaningful contributions to class discussions. They learn about financial markets, business economics and macroeconomic trends, and express their ideas through compelling written arguments.

"Nicole is a wonderfully engaging tutor who has completely changed my son’s online learning experience. My son is always talking about how enjoyable Nicole’s lessons are and how she has made the subject far more interesting to learn. We are already seeing improvements in his confidence, his motivation and test results. His teachers have also commented that he is “getting more stuck into lessons” and asking more questions. We are so grateful to Nicole for her thoughtful, patient approach with our son which has enabled us to catch up on the lost learning time during lockdown."

Mother of Year 12 student

"Toby has taught our daughter for the past two years. My daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia in Year 11 and enjoyed but struggled with essay-based subjects. Toby has worked tirelessly to support her with the step up to A Levels, to build her confidence, and to equip her with the tools she needs to write concise, well-structured essays. Toby has delivered outstanding academic lessons and been instrumental in helping her to develop effective revision strategies. We feel very lucky to have found Toby who has gone above and beyond!"
